I am Pregnant and Over 30 and I Care about the Way I Look.

Date of Review: Mar 1, 2001

The Bottom Line:  If you have never read or bought Allure I think it is about time you give it a try.
I have to start off this epinion by stating that I had never heard of this magazine before I received a free subscription to it a few months ago. I had heard and read some of the more popular fashion magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Mademoiselle, but this magazine I new nothing of. Not only have I come to appreciate this magazine since being introduced to it, I eagerly await for it to arrive.

The magazine is entitled Allure- the beauty expert, and in a sense that is exactly what it is. This magazine is chalk full of information. I despise the usual fashion magazines that are 200 to 300 pages, and it takes me a little over an hour to read. This magazine keeps me reading for much longer. I find myself reading almost every article.

The main reason why I like Allure is because almost every article in this magazine is no more than a paragraph or two. There are of course lengthier articles but on the average, every page offers 3 or 4 smaller articles full of useful information. For example if the main focus is on Body News they will add a couple of articles either filled with survey results or statistics along with real life examples. Because the articles are easy to read and understand, I find it much simpler to retain the information. I have gone so far as to buy some of the recommended production that were introduced to me through the readers review in this magazine, and I was not disappointed.

What a do not find enjoyable in this magazine is all of the advertisements that you are bombarded with. I do realize that this is not only a problem in Allure but with every other magazine you buy. I find it annoying to have to go through pages upon pages before you reach the next questionable article.

When I found out I was going to receive this magazine for free, I worried that perhaps I were too old to enjoy some of the articles. But being over 30 and expecting my first child, I do not think this magazine is geared only for younger readers. I mostly enjoy the issues that focus on health such as body news, and/or mood news. And I also still like to keep up with the fashion, make up, and accessorizing articles, even though for the moment I will have to let that slide.

My favorite part of Allure is when they have articles on makeovers, these articles offer ideas and serve as an inspiration. They always make sure to list the products they have used on the model, so that you can also try to duplicate it at home. Along with the makeovers, I also like the way they carefully choose there featured cover story; they do not stick to models or a certain age group. They vary from age to look.

No matter what your age is, I think there is something for everyone in this magazine.
