Author's Review
I expect a lot from a magazine.
I am not an avid beauty magazine reader.
Allure is excellent.
There you go, my confession to the world. I am mainly an entertainment magazine reader, although I must admit: they can be very fun to look at. In my opinion, Allure is one of the finest beauty magazines on newsstands today, along with my two other favorites, Marie Claire and In Style. Allure lets us in on the hippest trends in fashion, makeup, health, and much much more. The colors, layout, photographs, topics, and even outer appearance with for sure lure you to read this alluring magazine. Before you do though, lets get down to the core of Allure.
ALLURES PACKAGING ***** STARS!
Come on, admit it: most of us DO judge a book by its cover, so why would it be any different with a fashion magazine? Most people wont by a fashion magazine with a picture of Janet Reno on it, so thats why Allure plasters a close up beauty shot of the hottest model or actress available. In the particular publication I have in front of me it happens to be the ever-so-beautiful Sandra Bullock. The color-scheme is a bright, almost neon pink, a lovely shade of purple, and white. Its nice and glossy, and there are no staples, it is all bound neatly and attractively. The name is right on the target! Most of their publications are about 180 pages, or something pretty close. Its a nice size for a fashion magazine though, because I know that when I go to an airport or something its a pain to carry around an In Style or Marie Claire, theyre just too heavy! **Allure will fit nicely under the chair in front of you** :)
QUALITY OF WRITING *****STARS!
For a fashion magazine I dont expect much in the editorial area, but Allure is ahead of its competition. All though there arent excessive stories, all of them are done with great perfection and class. Never will they drag on about the same boring thing, or leave you hanging. Everything is written very to the point and simple
the way that most fashion publication buyers would have it. If youre looking for a good human-interest story you might not find it here, but if you need fashion advice they definitely have the goods!
EYE CANDY *****STARS!
As I said before, we automatically decide if we like what we see by the way things are presented. Allure has spectacular eye candy, including full-color cutouts, celebrities, illustrations, and of course, studio photography. There isnt a page without loads of eye-popping colors and pictures, so if you tend to be a skimmer, than Allure just might be the magazine you should be skimming. Along with eye candy goes layout and design. Again, Allure gets an A in that area. Get ready
your eyes are about to have a major party!
ADVICE *****STARS!
You cant run a fashion mag without plenty of trendy advice areas. Allures got you covered
all over the place. In every issue there are two perforated pages with color photos on one side, and information on the backs. They can be about anything from how to highlight your hair to how to put on lipstick. Its just another perk of Allure: They will go above and beyond for the reader. Another thing they have on the end page of each issue is Private Eye which is basically a question with several celebrity responses. Many of them can be advice to the reader by force of persuasion, but they are also a lot of fun to read.
WHICH ONES THE BEST? *****STARS!
Like Consumer Reports, Allure does a lot of comparing products. You name it, razors, lip-gloss, eye shadow, color kits
any thing you could ever possibly imagine. It lets you in on who uses what
and who should use what. If youre thinking about cleaning out your makeup bag, pick up an Allure to do yourself justice.
OKAY
so Allure is great
in fact its one of the finest made. I think Ive said enough.
