Intelligent adaptation

Alice is played by the adult Kate Beckinsale. This works just fine. Her character is knowing and perceptive , like Alice in the book, and like the upper-class 12-year-olds that Carroll told the story to.. the Book needed to be cut, otherwise it would bog down (when reading it, that is a different matter). Only the first few lines of a poem are given (except for Jabberwocky, and the 'for answer came there none' bit)
Rather than make massive use of name stars or trendy comedians (like Jonathan Miller did), seasoned English Actors are used, and give charming performances.
