Now, when Nick (
smoking-gun) started up on this cigar smoking thang, I got a bit bored at times looking through the smoke shops... until he took me to
JR Tobacco down in North Carolina. They have lots more than cigars there.. tons of stuff.. but anyway, I got bored of looking at clothes and books and wandered into their giant humidor where he was ogling the normal sized humidors.. I started browsing.
Then I noticed these little containers. How cute! Hmmm
Al Capones? That's funny. So I bought a pack of ten for like 5 bucks. They come in this little plastic case and the top flips up. Very handy for a purse, keeps everything from falling out. I hate when tobacco ends up in the bottom of my purse because I tossed a pack of cigarettes in there and forgot to use my case. grrrr.. (and no lectures about smoking either.. I'll bite your head off. heh)
They had a couple of styles, but I went with the cognac dipped ones. Now the first box of these I bought didn't have a filter, the next box did. Now I only buy the filtered ones, and I love that cognac dip! Ummm mmmm good! Seriously. This is like having a dessert. The flavor is sooo sweet. It doesn't taste like booze really.. just a very nice, pleasant sweetness.
These are made in Germany and are a bit smaller than the other little cigars in tins like the
Montecristo Memories. Actually, I wouldn't classify the Capones as a cigar at all. I mean, you aren't suppose to inhale a true cigar, but I do inhale the Capones just like a regular cigarette. If you are at all familiar with Sherman cigarettes, then you know what these Capones look like... same size, just pricier and they taste a helluva lot better than a cigarette.
These are 3.5 in length, with a ring size of 20 (but we all learned in the Monty-crEEsto review that really means like umm 2 in man measurements, right ladies?) What all those numbers mean, again, is that it's the size of a cigarette.. just fancy cee-gar talk.
These burn evenly with no tunneling, and draw very easy. The wrapper is classified as NTL, whatever that means... I think it's Neutral something. At any rate, the wrapper is dark chocolatey brown color, and is machine wrapped. The filler is CBCS. No clue again, but I assume it does
not mean long leaf.
The strength is considered medium, but I'd say more to the mild side of that. They are certainly milder than the Montecristo Memories, which are milder than most of the cigars Nick buys... yet a bit stronger maybe than a Marlboro cigarette.
So, my verdict on these are to buy them for use as an after dinner cigar when you don't feel like having a big ol' honking expensive one and want something sweet.. and it's perfect for us gals. Now when Nick and
Tom light up their cigars after dinner, I can too!
Oh.. and by the way.. the best place to buy these (or any cigar for that matter..) is
JRCigars.com.. they have the very best prices anywhere and they are just fabulous folks to deal with.

I now turn the cigar reviewing back over to the real cigar smoker in the family... ok quit applauding damn it...
