Great value AV receiver

by   j_cherry ,  Dec 14, 2003
Pros: Great features, low price. Fantastic surround sound, good controls.
Cons: Could have more display options; function knob sometimes awkward.
The Bottom Line: Excellent value for money. Sounds great, great feature set, solid unit. Not for video/audiophiles, but more than enough for 95% of people.
Review: I bought the AV-D58 at Best Buy on their after Thanksgiving special. Out the door price with tax (Chicago): $150. Hooked it up with surround speakers; no problems, very easy. Got digital in from DVD hooked up; no sweat getting both DTS + Dolby Digital...

Review: First let me say that the audio portion is great. However if you're buying this for receiving multiple radio stations, be prepared for a real disappointment. Presets are set sequentially, so you can't change just one. Setting and getting to station...

Clean power for the money

by   djkamikaze ,  Apr 28, 2002
Pros: Good clean sound for the price
Cons: Remote can be tricky to use
The Bottom Line: Aiwa makes some good sounding product that can satify your needs for a nice sounding reciever without big pocket money.
Review: I had an old Tecnics amp and it went finally quit on me. So the search was on an amp that sounded good, but wasn't going to break me in my wallet. I listen to several amps and the ones that sounded good were real expensive and the lower price amps...
