Disappointing...

I run a small home-based business. I'm on the phone for hours every day. I needed more mobility than I had with the current two-line landline phone system I was using, so opted for this model ATT. The additional cordless seemed a good way to be able to move about while conducting business.

This is by far, hands-down the WORST telephone system I have ever owned. I'm now on the 4th one in less than a year, having exchanged the first at the store, and the remaining 3 with ATT direct. Their customer service is great and have done what they can, but the truth is it appears to be a defect in their design because EVERY SINGLE SET they've sent me suffers from the same problem. I've checked and it's not coming from my telephone company, because I have moved from one state to another and telephone service providers have changed also, but the problem remains.

When dialing out on the landline, whether using the handset or the speakerphone, the number you dial will not necessarily be the number you reach! For example, I may dial 800-123-1234, but the phone may connect me instead with 866-321-4213! However, the number display will clearly read the first number - the number you intended to, and correctly dialed! It's bizarre! It's as if it cannot read or recognize it's own keypad tones. You can imagine how many wrong numbers can be dialed in a day, if you are conducting business. Not good.

On the cordless, when you use the speakerphone system to dial out, the tones from the keypad will register low on the first two or three numbers then suddenly escalate to very very loud tones as you finish dialing out the number. As if the volume control had a mind of it's own.

Also, you can not add a longer handset cord, and the headset plug seems to have a problem with the volume also. Voices come in muffled and low, even when you turn up the volume on both the phone headset option on the phone AND the volume on the headset itself. Regardless of what brand of headset used, btw. I tried three. :(

Frankly, if I had anticipated such a bad investment, I would have made an effort to find another Panasonic two-line with additional cordless, since that's what I'd owned prior but without the cordless handset option. It was a wonderful product.

Tremendous disappointment! Not worth the price.
