The all around Adidas Superstar 2G Basketball Shoes

You can't let the name of this particular Adidas shoe fool you. There is no arguing that this shoe is designed for the basketball court however I've found they can be worn in so many different settings. The outsoles offer solid traction and stability on indoor gym floors and outdoor pavement with excellent overall abrasion-resistance. If you prefer leather over a cheap synthetic upper you've found the right shoe The Adidas Superstar 2G basketball shoe is made up of a full-grain leather upper that offers lots of durability, protection and comfort. One of the many things you'll appreciate is the padded insole which provides increased comfort when standing or walking. This particular shoe is solid and built well. Their patented CM-EVA midsole feel firm to the touch yet comfortable. The broad rubbery toe-box provides lots of roominess in the forefoot area, and wiggle room for your toes. The leather upper provides adequate ventilation for the fall and winter season.


This particular shoe's traction has its limits. Caution to anyone who wears them on wet grass as this shoe brings new meaning to "slippery when wet". If you are wearing them on a rainy day, you can expect for them to squeak loudly once you walk indoors. Another minor issue with the shoe is the beefy lacing system which secures the tongue adequately unfortunately it generates a bulky feel to the tongue. Fortunately, the tongue holds its place, with confident stability. Probably the most limiting concern or biggest issue is the shoe's wear and tear factor. As far as looks there is no need to worry about the white leather upper, stitch work or easy to clean rubber bottom. It's the inside foot padding that looses some of its cushioning after approximately 30 days of regular wear. It's as if the shoe looses a bit of its steam; which in my opinion affects the comfort level, especially when landing after a high jump (Ouch!). This brings me to the conclusion that this shoe performs better as an all around athletic shoe; despite its strict marketing for basketball.


Impressions and thoughts:

Over the years I've found many, many bargains on the clearance rack and once again salute my purchase and find. The primary reason I purchased this particular shoe was the fact that I got a lot of bounce for the buck. The reputable brand name and quality put into the shoe are a testament to its low price value. If you enjoy indoor sports you should try this athletic shoe. This is a medium weight shoe for gym rats or B-ballers who don't need the high ankle support found in the more popular high-top shoes. Overall, despite how quickly the padding wears, the shoes continue to look good and are good for a variety of athletic activities. Although serious basketball players might be disappointed the shoe is decent for walking in the mall or playing a quick pick up sport.


While Adidas has a solid reputation build on making soccer and running shoes the low quarter Superstar 2G Basketball Shoes is not without its drawbacks. I have yet to see any of the Adidas endorsees like NBA all-star Kobe Bryant or tennis star Anna Kournikova wear this particular shoe and I seriously doubt they will, but for its $19.99 basement bargain clearance price I'll endorse them for a few months.
