Pros: A very competent SUV that is well-built and easy to live with.
Cons: Mediocre gas mileage. Requires premium fuel.
The Bottom Line: The 2002 Acura MDX Touring is a very competent car-like SUV that is well-built, thoughtfully designed, and a pleasure to own.
Review: I have owned my 2002 Acura MDX Touring version for eight months, and I'm just as happy with the car today as I was the day I bought it. I use it for daily commuting as well as extensive off-road junkets and driving on snow and ice in the Sierra. The MDX...

Pros: gas mileage, smooth quiet engine, 3rd row seating, comfortable interior.
Cons: non-negotiable price, long wait, road noise @ highway speed
The Bottom Line: Wait until the 2003 models arrive. There are no discounts on the remaining 2002 models.
Review: I have owned the 2002 MDX for just about a month and have driven the truck just over 1000 miles. This is such an upgrade from my previously owned SUV. I traded in a 2000 Ford Expedition and have no regrets. Before purchasing the MDX a test drove the...

Pros: Ride, performance, handling, roominess, overall quality
Cons: Cheap interior plastics, Touring option over-priced.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this vehicle for an all around SUV that while not perfect in any one things, does everything very well, and does it with class.
Review: I previously reviewed a 2002 based on a test drive. I now own a 2002 with just under 1000 miles.
We purchased the vehicle (MSRP) in Southern Calif. (we live in Northern CA) as we wanted a specific color and these are in high demand. I was tired... |

Pros: The appearance, handling, and comfort
Cons: Gas mileage could still be better, but not too bad
The Bottom Line: I enjoy driving the MDX. It has made driving fun for me again and that is the best part!
Review: I traded my Ford Expedition for the 2002 Acura MDX. I had owned an Acura before so I was familiar with the quality and service. I must be one of the only people who received a really good discount on this car. I had originally ordered the beige or...

Pros: Cornering, 3rd row split folding seat, sunroof, acceleration, smooth ride.
Cons: Sound system. It can be improved inexpensively.
The Bottom Line: Unless you want to spend another $10K on an X5, this is the best SUV under $40K. Sports-car-like ride.
Review: When we decided to downsize from our Expedition for fuel economy purposes, we decided on the Mountaineer. We hit an Acura dealer en route to Mercury dealer where we planned to buy a Moutaineer. Test-drove an MDX, fell in love. Dealer wanted MSRP. We left...

Pros: Superb handling, and visibility and COMFORT!
Cons: Doesn't have automatic lights or door locks or hands free cell phone option.
Review: I bought this car with only 2,000 miles on it. What a wonderful purchase. It is so comfortable and spoils me with all the interior details. I was used to a Honda Passport which handled well but stepping up to this MDX was a treat. I do wish I bought the ...

Pros: Very comfortable, Car-like ride, Reliable
Cons: Small gas tank, Some strange switch locations
Review: I have had my 2002 MDX for about a year and a half and think its a wonderful car. I travel a great deal between Colorado and Tennessee and this is the best long-distance travel car I have ever driven. I am about 6'3" and one of the reasons I chose the ...

Pros: Sweet ride, very good quality, nice design
Cons: 2nd row seating doesn't fold flat, auto headlights
Review: Luv it, luv it, luv it! Need I say more? Okay, if you insist...only thing I found unusual is the lack of automatic headlights. I've driven lesser quality suv's that have this feature so was a little surprised to find the MDX doesn't have it. Things that ...

Pros: Smart interior. engine is a smooth powerful marvel. Seats 8
Cons: Some interior materials not top grade, i.e. plastic wood. Gas thirsty.
Review: When I traded in my 2002 Mercedes ML430 for a 2004 Touring MDX I may have lost some prestige, but I gained a considerably superior vehicle. The MDX is an interesting cross between an SUV, a sport sedan and a minivan (7 seats). It makes a lot of trade ...

Pros: good sound system, great navigation, good build quality, great SUV.
Cons: small trunk when third row up.
Review: I got this SUV for my wife to drive. She H-A-T-E-S to drive BIG cars. But, for some reason she doesn't get the same BIG car/SUV feeling from the MDX. In fact, she L-O-V-E-S to drive MDX. It's got a sporty feel to it. It has plenty of room. It gets ...
