Author's Review
I bought this computer in 2002, with Office XP operating system and lots of goodies. It is now 2008, and I'm still using it daily. I would have to say this is a really durable, dependable computer. I paid $500. plus tax in 2002, and it's now listed in the $300. range. I'm essentially computer illiterate yet this unit has taken my abuse, and met all my needs for six years, so I consider it a super bargain. If you can pick one up for $300 or so; do it now, and you'll never regret it. I can't think of a better bargain in today's world. I bought a Linksys wireless modem that allows me to move around without tangling cables. This is an essential for me. All in all, you can't go wrong with this notebook unless you get a factory lemon. I actually paid about $600 for it now that I recall, but that includes a Microsoft Office XP operating system that has features above and beyond what I require. The battery life has gone down to under an hour, but then again I haven't replaced even the battery during the six years I've abused this great computer. The first notebook I ever owned was a Toshiba satellite. I sold it for about what I paid for it more than a year after buying it. I didn't find anything wrong with that one either: I sold it to a co-worker when I had no need of it. To make a long story short, you can't go wrong with this model (Acer), it's money well spent.
