The price is what initially attracted me. I've been using it for over one year. The Widescreen LCD saves a lot of physical space when compared to the old school CRT monitors. It's perfect for anyone with limited deskspace.
Once out of the box, you only have to make room for the base. The actual screen part needs to be attached to the base. This is the only assembly you'll be responsible for. It took me a couple minutes to physically set up.
After that, you only need to plug in the power chord, and attach the monitor to the computer's video out. If you've ever set up a CRT monitor, the process is exactly the same.
Once you turn it on, you're met with the Acer splash screen. If you've set up everything correctly, you should be seeing your desktop.
The highest resolution available is 1440 x 900. Running it at this setting gives the clearest display. I have ran it at a lower resolution on my laptop, and the screen isn't as clear with lower resolutions. This may be an issue if you don't own a video card that allows for resolutions up to 1440.
There are a few presets available: graphics, text, movie, and standard. I've found the standard configuration to be optimal.
I've used this monitor to read ebooks, browse the net, watch movies, and play games. I'm happy to say that I've never had an issue with the display and it can handle gaming just fine.
After mentioning all the good points. It's not a completely flawless monitor. Shortly after my warranty expired, I received two dead pixels. Most of the time it isn't noticeable, but when watching films, it can become an annoyance. Unfortunately I didn't opt for the extended warranty. I would recommend that as an option for anyone who purchases this monitor.
