Harlequin in Your Head
Pros:
Catchy, but in a sophisticated sort of way. The lyrical genius is beyond their years.
Cons:
Most songs only have one verse and chorus that repeat themselves...a lot.
The Bottom Line:
Why you ask? Because once you've tried, you're hooked; there's something mysterious and intriguing that is just what it takes to quench the musical dehydration this world suffers from.

Author's Review
A Fever You Can't Sweat Out fell into my lap by pure chance. My friend is really into being one of the first people to "discover" bands before they commit radio suicide. So I fell in love with Panic! at the Disco many months ago. When their album finally came out on the open market I ran, er, drove to the nearest store and paid my dues, but oh how it was worth it. The musical maturity and genius of Brenden(vocals), Spencer(drums), Ryan(guitar), and Jon(bass) blew my severely unprepared mind. Their sound is often mistaken for Fall Out Boy which is a valid comparison even I myself actually thought F.O.B. had released a new album until my friend corrected me, but is was their lyrical originality that most impressed me; requiring more than a 5th grade vocabulary to comprehend. Be honest, when was the last time you used "caricature" in a sentence other than on your last Disneyland vacation. And how many people these days know that cigarettes are "laced with nitroglycerine"? My favorite song, "Build God, Then We'll Talk" uses lyrics and melody to twist the innocent "Sound of Music" naivety with the raw realization that real life is disturbing, and yet still maintains that playful attitude. Although I love their lyrics I do think that their next album will be light years better, because most of their songs have only one verse and one chorus that is repeated over about four times to make it the standard three minute song length. And after learning their story of discovery I can see why that is. Believe it or not this Moulin Rouge band is barely old enough to buy dry ice. Fresh out of high school, these Las Vegas graduates had posted some demos on the internet which were discovered by Fall Out Boy's own Pete Wentz. Yet to play a live show, Panic! at the Disco was signed, and had to put out an album quick. Due to the pressure of release they didn't have a whole lot of time to write a whole c.d., we all know how the music industry can be. Therefore in conclusion and based on my research the next step of the scientific method would force me to come up with the hypothesis that their next album, due to more time, will not by as challenged. But don't let that stop you from taking the time to begin a love affair with them now.
