AT&T 210BLK Trimline Telephone - No Fancy Features, But Basics Work Well

It is a good idea to have a corded phone in addition to a cordless one – the cordless phone will not work in case of the power outage. Because of this, I got this AT&T Trimline phone in black color.

Sound Quality

The sound quality of this phone is exceptional. Although cordless phone try to approach the sound quality of the corded phones, they fall short and I find myself preferring to talk using this phone when I don’t need the mobility of the cordless unit.

Features

The phone has a backlit keypad and does not need a separate AC power jack the way cordless phones do. The only connection you need is a phone jack.

The phone has a tone/pulse switch and a handset volume switch. It also has memory dialing, which I never use. The “Redial” button is helpful for redialing the last dialed number. The “Flash” button is helpful if you have call waiting and allows you switch between callers.

Unfortunately, as is the case with other phones, the Flash button does not completely eliminate the need to put the handset on the base and pick it up a couple of seconds later.

The phone can be put on a desk or any other flat surface or mounted vertically. I have it sitting on a desk and sometimes it is difficult to understand if the handset is on the lever and the phone is in “off” mode or it got placed incorrectly and the phone is off the hook, until it starts making noises (intermittent dial tone).

The phone has rubber “legs” to prevent it from slipping and the cord that connects the handset and base is replaceable and has jacks at both ends. Same with the cord from the base to the phone jack.

So far, the phone is holding up well and only requires periodic exterior cleaning. It has no fancy functions, but it got the basics and they work well.

Bottom Line

I highly recommend this phone as a second phone or if you don’t need fancy features (Caller ID, built-in answering machine, etc).
