Radeon 9800 Pro 128: Is it worth the upgrade?

Date of Review:  Apr 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: I'm confident that I got a great card for the money, and I don?t think I?ll be sweating over whether I should have got the NVIDIA 5900FX or not.
Review: "Hooray! It's here!" Finally after 10 days and $204.79, my new Radeon 9800 Pro 128 video card finally arrived. Now all I had to do was install it and explain to my wife why this card was worth two hundred bucks. The first part was easier than the...

It's Getting Hot In Here: Upgrades, PCIx, and Shifting Video Cards

Date of Review:  May 15, 2004
The Bottom Line: Hands down the best deal you'll get on a video card at the time of writing. Get one.
Review: Cripes, this review got old. PCI-E is here and going strong, having turned into a better value for the money, performancewise, than AGP is anymore. And they settled on calling it "PCI-E" instead of "PCI-X" so as to minimize confusion with the old...

King of the hill in graphics cards.

Date of Review:  Sep 19, 2003
The Bottom Line: The fast 9800 pro will not disappoint. The newest iterations of the catalyst drivers appear to be flawless. The only mark it gets is for the hefty price tag.
Review: I've been building my own PC's for a long time. I typically standardize on the best components money can buy. While speed is important to me, stability is paramount. In the past, ATI has had a lot of issues with driver stability in their products,...

Now Is The Time to Buy

Date of Review:  Oct 31, 2003
The Bottom Line: The 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro are adequate for most new games, but if you want silky smooth graphics, get the 9800 Pro!
Review: I just picked this card up at BestBuy for $299 (includes a $50 rebate) to replace my Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB. I've used the 9800 Pro for the past week and here are my observations.

Introduction

This is one serious card! Check out...

Spectacular Card

Date of Review:  Jul 12, 2004
The Bottom Line: This is by far the best card that I own. A little bit ussupportive in some cases, but still a spectacular card.
Review: I purchased my Radeon 9800 from a somewhat questionable online dealer. I paid for the card as if it were new, but the card wasn't. Nonetheless I used the card and didn't RMA because the performance was astounding.

To give you a idea of how...

Fastest GPU available

Date of Review:  Feb 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: One of the cheaper graphics solutions to get top performance and this card was well priced (#170), get it if you can.
Review: I bought this card to replace my Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB, I only bought the 9000 last year however this was at the budget end of the market and I did not expect much for #60. Suffice to say the 900 Pro suffered greatly with later games and does not...

Mine WAS sitting in my closet.

Date of Review:  May 20, 2003
The Bottom Line: Wait to see if the card proves to be stable. (My experience may have been indictive of the card,....or just my configuration.)
Review: First let me say I am NOT a gamer. However I do like to have top quality components in my computers.
I started building computers about five years ago for myself and many of my friends. I like to know that I am getting good components in my...

It worth the money. Oh is it worth the money.

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2004
The Bottom Line: It's the best super high-end card out there, and the price is good compared to the competition.
Review: I managed to get my grubby little hands on ATI's second most powerful card on the market, the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO. Recently, ATI came out with a $500 Radeon XT card which offers slightly more performance for $200 more than the 9800 PRO, which is a...

9800 Pro 128 in the upper echelon of performance video cards

Date of Review:  May 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: This is a great high performance video card needed for high end games (ex. Doom 3, Half Life 2). Can get hot; purchase a quality GPU cooling system.
Review: I'd been hoping to see the price of this card go down in light of ATI's recent announcement of the 9800's successor; the x800. Sure enough, I found a great price at Fry's 1-Day Anniversary Sale on this card.

The 9800 Pro 128 is definitely...

You get what you pay for.

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2003
The Bottom Line: Expensive, but worth it!
Review: I recently upgraded my video card from a GeForce Ti4200 to this baby. I was getting OK game playing from the GeForce at 1024x768 with most effects turned on (but no AA). With this card I have run 1280x1024 with 4xAA and everytying looks GREAT! (The...
