Great Product if only I could get it to work
Date of Review: Jul 27, 2004
The Bottom Line: Only buy it if you are tech savvy, and can return it if it STILL won't work.
Pentium III 450Mhz
Windows XP
16MB Nvidia PCI Video Adapter
256MB RAM
All Drivers up to date
Newest Drivers and MMC software from ATI downloaded
I installed this card in my 7 year olds computer for her birthday (she wanted a TV). It worked great right out of the box. I played with it and was amazed at the features.
THEN..... I rebooted the computer. I kept getting an error message "TV player failed to initalize the video..... Check to make sure you have the latest drivers etc.."
If I uninstalled the hardware through Windows Device manager and rebooted, then it would work fine again. Until the next time I reboot. Then the same error
I called tech support (HINT: I think that they are in Canada - this could affect your long distance charges - you will be on the phone a long time - I used a prepaid calling card).
They had me uninstall, re-install, switch PCI slots, remove other programs, disable Anti-virus etc... Nothing I hadn't already tried, but I did it again ( about 6 times in all).
It still does the same thing. Now they suggest installing it in another computer (I will, but it's still going back to the store).
Thhis would be a GREAT product if only it worked correctly after you reboot. If you get one, make sure you can take it back.
