Like grainy pictures and frequent lock up?s ?This is the card for you .
Date of Review: Jul 13, 2004
The Bottom Line: I would NOT recommend this card because of the picture quality is so poor.Problems with Hyperthread technology. Frequent lock ups. Must use loop wire to sound card input.
The card is easy to install physically in the PC, but will take some configuring, depending on your sound card configuration especially if you using 5.1 like myself, you will probably need two sound cards, but the set up software for the card will let you select the sound card you want to use. Don't install shipped drivers and software cd if you're running XP there is a big software update(v 9.1)at ATI website.
The only reason I bought the card it was FREE after rebate, almost anyway had to pay for tax and shipping.
It is good for watching TV while surfing the net but that's it. Has one cool feature though, It will integrates itself in Internet Explorer(in the Favorites box).
This card has "Horrible" picture quality if watching anything much larger than 2" screen. And don't even think about trying to record any thing at all, it freezes (locks-up) constantly.Has problems with Hyperthread computers. There is a fix supposedly (TV Tuner Stops Responding issue - Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 817589 )for this but I read on the internet it is very hard to get and you will have to pay for it at Microsoft support (no download available that I can find) .I have worked hours and hours researching issues and trying to fix the problems (and there are many problems with just about all TV cards). I have not tried to install it on my other computers yet, to see if it has the same lockup problems when trying to record.I am running the card on Windows XP PRO 3.2 GHZ Hyperthread 1 gig ram two 120 GIG Hd set at RAID-0 W/duel CRT monitors If was to rate this card from 1 to 10 it would get a 4 on a good day. I will update this review and add any info that may be helpful.
