Tiny Giant Works Wonders

Date of Review: Nov 16, 2008

The Bottom Line:  a real contender in the netbook and notebook market.
have owned for four months now and i'm very happy with it.

linux OS and tabbed applications takes a bit getting used to compared to Windoze XP and Office but most people will have no problem adjusting.

installed applications include StarOffice and a collection of linux specific offerings. all look very window-ish.

but if you are not comfortable with troubleshooting when things gone wrong linux can be a bit confusing. it is not constructed at all like windows and the terms can be confusing.

the machine purchased failed after two months, troubleshooting with 24/7 tech support one night lead both of us to believe that the main system solid state drive was failing.

gave me an RMA number, shipped the machine to Indiana at my expense and in ten days i had a different machine configured the same as the original machine but with a much improved keyboard. last two months with replacement machine have been uneventful.

the size and weight is perfect for carrying in a book bag or small brief case. but it also results in a crunched up keyboard which my fat fingers have trouble with.

have connected to two brother usb printers and one hp usb printer successfully.

with the latest wireless patch to the system the connect speed is excellent and gives an excellent connection.

use it with my kensington wireless minimouse just fine.
