AMD Athlon XP 2600+: I feel the Need for Speed!

Date of Review:  Aug 19, 2003
The Bottom Line: the budget conscience, nothing beast AMD for a perfect blending of performance and price.

Athlon XP 2600+ Fast, but sometimes Less is More

Date of Review:  Oct 14, 2003
The Bottom Line: While the 2600 certainly has a higher clock speed, Front Side Bus and RAM speed are far more important to thie bigger picture. Read the review
Review: Obviously the Athlon XP series chips by AMD have established quite a legacy. The XP "Barton" series chips were the last and final chapter of what was an excellent processor platform- surely, to say AMD went out on a good note with the 32-BIT chips...

Most people don't need all this speed.....at least not yet!

Date of Review:  Jul 3, 2003
The Bottom Line: AMD cpus offer more bang for the buck. You'll need a new motherboard and at least pc2700 memory to support this cpu. Excellent cooling and a good power supply necessary.
Review: I am something of a computer nut. How can you tell? Well a large portion of my backroom is filled with nothing but past incarnations of my computer systems. I have no less than 6 old (still functional motherboards), several old cpus and memory...

FAST!!! Handles all the games so far

Date of Review:  Feb 25, 2005
Review: This is a fast processor for the person who simply doesnt have the $300 to spend on a P4. It conmpares right up with the P4's while talking about speed. But when it comes to the cost the Athlons are much cheaper. Mine runs all the games so far...
