Premature failures

Pros: Lot's of features, good as a video card.

Cons: Early Tuner failure. Poor Support

This was my second ATI TV tuner. Although the video functions very well the TV/FM tuner function has failed at 18 months. This is a very similar failure of my previous TV card had, even the age at failure.

The Remote Control was alway flakey. It did not integrate as well into the OS as I thought it should. Many times I would have to reinsert the USB cable to get it recognized.

At about 14 month the fan started to make noise when turned on. The fan would eventually quiet down, and it did test out okay, moving air.

I paid quite a bit for this card since it was still relatively new in April 2004. It is very frustrating to have it fail so soon, barely 6 months out of warranty. I would expect a device like this to last at a minimum 5 years.

I'm buying the Hauppauge brand next, maybe the HDTV tuner, although I do like having an FM tuner as well.
