Much more than a "kit lens"

This is often called the "kit lens" as it is packaged with the D70. It often sells for 300.00 US or less. It features a ultra fast AFS Nikon focus system and is a joy to use. It is for digital cameras ONLY and has no F/stop ring. This lens operates smoothly and build quality is very good. Optically this is pure joy. Forget the price. Plenty of pros have this great little lens in thier kits. It offers excellent sharpness, color and only moderate distortion at the extremes. Remember that it's 18mm X 1.5 on a D70 or other Nikon DSLR. For most folks, this lens delivers more than enough and even nit-picky lens nuts tend to agree it's a winner that scores even at twice the price. I'd also suggest the 28-200G lens from Nikon as it is the perfect companion and certainly more versatile than the new 55-200 DX.
