Masticating or centrifugal juicer? I chose this Omega juicer 8005 because it gets you more juice but at a slower more cewing pace versus a quicker centrifugal type. I chose this brand over a Champion because it has more attachments and this one says it can juice wheatgrass and other fibrous things like kale or spinach, the champion says it can't really juice those things.
ok, my PROS:
1) easy clean up. Everything rinses off fast. They say there's no real screen to clean like how a centrifugal juicer has that bowl which is hard to clean and get all those little bits of veggies out. Even though this Omega juicer can be cleaned easily, it does have 2 screens. One screen is really micro fine and it is against this screen that the screw masticating is graining against to get you the juice. BUT, I have found that it rinses easily with a little rubbing or even a simple toothbrush to clean it off. The second screen is big holed like a chees grater size, so cleanup is easy there, this filter is for after the juice is made and to minimize the foam and larger chunks.
2) GOOD juice. The slow grinding really breaks up the fibers and gets alot of juice out. LIke the difference between a coffee grinder with blades versus the Burr grinder. You just get a finer and more extracted juice.
3) pretty compact and not messy. Basically all the moving parts can be imersed into water for easy cleaning. No nooks or cranys to wipe off and stuff.
CON:
1) SLow. If you need 1 gallon of carrot juice for your party....you gonna be actively juicing for like 30mins straight. After like 45 mins of straight juicing, the motor seems to get really warm and struggling. For example, it takes like 15-20secs to get one carrot through.
2) Small feeding hole. SO this translate to slow speed too. AND self gravity don't work too well, so you have to constantly be pushing the veggies down the tube with pressure.
3) Pricy. I think I paid like $300. That's like high end juicer price.
4) THings that don't juice too well. Kiwi with skin, Bananas, lemons with skin, anything with a rind, pomogranate
5) The inner screw stains easily. If that bothers you. The inner screw is made of hard ivory white plastic, so grinding away with carrots can stain it up. But the rest of the machine (mine is chrome) is so far unstained, even the feed tube. So, no stains are seen when the maching is working...only when you open it up to clean.
COnclusions:
BUY if you have $300 to blow on one lifetime like juicer and if you like a glass or two of fresh juice a day. Personally, the ease of cleaning, great strong juice, and solid state build is totally worth it to me to get this juicer.
Also, look at the Champion and those dual screw type juicers.
