A fine grinder.
Date of Review: Nov 11, 2006
The Bottom Line: Some minor areas that could be improved on, but overall a good grinder and a good deal.
I've had my Capresso 560 for two months now and I'm quite pleased with it. It is much more consistent and convenient than my old Krups blade grinder.
The grind is very even, but I wish it would go just a little coarser (I use a french press). There is some fine dust produced, but I don't mind coffee with some texture!
The controls are wonderfully integrated and very intuitive:
1. turn the hopper to select the grind size
2. turn the timer knob to start
It is a little louder than I expected - but it's lower pitched than a blade grinder and really not bothersome.
The container for the grounds is a little larger than my french press which makes pouring the grounds a little tricky. Sometimes the container builds up a static charge that sends some coffee jumping out onto the countertop.
Capresso people - if you are listening - please enlarge the hopper to take a full pound of beans! it only holds about 3/4 lb meaning i have to find an airtight container to hold the rest.
Overall I recommend it, and it is surely worth the price. If I was to spend more money on a grinder I would try out some higher end grinders to find one that fixes a few of the niggles I mentioned above.
