Great Romantic Comedy!

50 First Dates is an Adam Sandler movie that will not disappoint, especially if you liked The Wedding Singer. The movie is set in Hawaii where a man by the name of Henry Roth (Sandler) comes across a young woman, Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore), in a café while having breakfast. After trying to develop a relationship with Lucy, Henry discovers that Lucy suffers from a form of amnesia that causes her to lose her memory of the prior day. Despite Lucy’s amnesia, Henry spends much of the movie trying to help Lucy to remember and finding various creative ways to make her fall in love with him each day. In the end, Henry reaches Lucy in a bit of an unexpected way.

While reviews of this movie have been very mixed, I believe this movie does cater to those who are fans of the Barrymore/Sandler combination. Being an avid Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler fan, I found this to be a very touching and enlightening romantic comedy. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler have great on screen chemistry that is brought back to life in this movie.

If you’re looking to roll over laughing like you would in a typical Adam Sandler movie, this probably isn’t the movie for you. I noticed many do not really understand or care for the references to spam. Spam is a staple in Hawaii and it is only right that they poke a little fun at the processed meat product for a movie set in this tropical paradise. I'll even admit that I wasn't exactly turned on to this movie when I first saw the previews, but I really do urge people to give it a chance. It's become a favorite of mine!

Overall, anyone who enjoyed The Wedding Singer will definitely enjoy this movie. It has the same playfully romantic feel that we love when we watch the interaction of Barrymore and Sandler.
