Full of info, but you need Money

Petersen's Four Wheel and Offroad Magazine is an excellent resource for those who love Four Wheel Drive vehicles and going Off-road. The articles are funny and easy to read, however you do need to know some Four Wheel Drive Lingo in order to understand some of them (I.E. Locker, Gear Box, Diff, Dana 44, Shackles, Pumpkin, Torsion Bar, etc). Luckily, they usually provide photos, detailed captions and a 4x4 dictionary about once a year. They provide great and objective reviews of vehicles, tires and accesories though sometimes the products they compare have multiple variables that can effect the results of their tests (i.e. Vehicles w/ different packages). They also provide in depth, step by step, profiles of exceptional off-road machines and project vehicles that the staff works on themselves. The only problem with these is that to follow them one has to have a large amount of money to pay for aftermarket parts and shop work. the vast majority of weekend wheelers probably do not have the resources to attempt such projects. But for those people many of the projects do provide lower cost options. Another favorite art of mine is the adds, including low cost and notable vendors such as National Tire and 4Wheel Parts Wholesalers. Over all I love this magazine. It has been the source of many dreams for my 4x4.
