The Bottom Line: a worthwhile read for anybody that works.
I mostly review cars, so books are a stretch. But aside from reading parts manuals, I occasionally pick up a book. And if its good, I can even read for more than five minutes! This book kept my eyes peeled for hours. In all honesty and as succinctly as I can state, if you are in a position where you need encouragement in your search for work and its relation to your life, there is none better. The book contains usable examples of work search tips (websites, resource guides, sample coverletters/resumes, etc) and even more theory - how to get your head around a life of work.
This is not only for the discouraged or the unemployed. Anybody with a need to reinvigorate their life of work should read this. Even if you love your job, its worthwhile! For myself, going through a significant period of time unemployed was exasperatingly difficult, but every time I would pick up this book it was like a light came on and I couldn't hold back a smile. Kudos to Dan Miller - thanks for your wisdom and insight throughout this fantastic book.
If there were any downfalls, and I'm nitpicking here, Dan does do some plugging for his other material throughout the book. This is not a big deal - it is self-help, so maybe this is a more common element in this style of book. But if I've paid for a book it seems to me that I watch enough commercials and see enough billboards to fulfill my need for advertising. Having said that, this other material is probably worthwhile and of a benefit to the reader to pursue.
