Nifty tape strips.
Date of Review: Nov 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: Handy strips for a variety of uses.
I recently had to return a package to a company. They supplied the stamped box with packing supplies so that it would not cost me one cent to make the return to them. One of the supplies included was this
3M ScotchPad to seal the package. I've never noticed this in stores but then I usually look for items I'm familiar with unless someone's made a recommendation. I like to have on hand all types of supplies needed for mailing packages securely. 3M has been a favorite of mine and many people at home and in most offices. I'm always well stocked in 3M office supplies at home.
A 3M ScotchPad 3750-P ~
Comes in a 2 pack package.
~ Each pack contains 25 strips of 2" X 6".
~ Clear
~ Moisture resistant.
~ Cost $3.79 for 50 strips.
This 3M strip has a 1/2" edge that you can pull off and remove the individual strip. When you place it on your package, you remove the edge covering. It's very simple to use. I found it to be just the right size for small packages. This eliminates waste since it's pre-cut.
On the back of the pad are 4 visual steps on how to remove and use each strip. These strips do not need any directions on how to use. They simply work like band aids, pull one strip and place. No cutting tool needed.
I was impressed when I checked this 3M product. I've tried a 3M painter's tape which I was very happy with and now I learned about a new product that's probably been around but I just never noticed it. I've always used the rolled 2" tape with the serrated dispenser. That is great for sealing large packages. Although I've had many sticky messes if the tape does not go on the package smoothly, it sometimes sticks to my hand and then becomes impossible to straighten out. Also, did you ever lose the beginning of the tape which sticks back to the roll? It gets annoying trying to start unrolling stuck tape.
Wrapping the 14"x8"x9" box for the return was quite simple. I used 2 strips on the bottom of the box first. I sealed the top of the box shut with 2 strips and then the sides with 4 more strips. The box was secure enough that didn't require me to use the whole pad of 25 strips. That left me many strips for my personal use like sending a care package across the states.
These strips come in handy for sealing large envelopes with very important mail, like IRS returns that have many forms and receipts enclosed where just the envelope seal is not enough. You want to add an extra seal to this envelope so that your personal information doesn't accidentally become opened. I have used these strips to close torn corners on my board games. Previously I've used regular scotch tape which did not seal properly because it is too narrow.
Summary 3M has made many innovative products to help us get a job done using high quality products. This is a great company that is trusted worldwide with their hundreds of quality products. 3M has over $20 billion in sales worldwide.
These pre-cut strips have many uses at home or for office use. But, I'm going with 4 **** because I have not tested the strength and durability for a long term.
3M's website is loaded with products and services to serve customers and communities' diversified technology needs with 7 global markets.
I'm glad I came across this product to enhance my packaging needs. I now have 3 types of sealing tapes; 1 for very large boxes, where I need the dispenser to seal areas longer than 1 foot, standard 1/2" tape and these pre-cut strips will definitely will be the middle ground for sealing smaller packages and to secure envelopes. They're easy to use and they are neater and faster to apply.
