Product Review

Yaris.. I love it simple as that.

by   snow_fox ,   Jun 12, 2007

Pros:  wonderful car, low maintence cost, and great

Cons:  Made for teens who probably won't appreciate it wanting "pimped cars"

The Bottom Line:  very good car because it saves me money, I have room for friends and I get a comfortable good ride.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

To best describe how I feel about this product I think its best I explain the history and a little bit about me.

I was a senior in highschool and I drove a buick lesabre. As I was going to turn for my normal route to school a truck ran the red light totaling my buick going under 8 miles an hour. I had had numerous problems with that particular car so while I was sad that I had been in my first wreck I felt no particular attachment to that car.

We went to the toyota lot as soon as we could make it there which was a few days later. The hatchback models we were considering at first quickly made us disgusted with their "grandma" shape to them. I want to point this out because on the net they do not look horrible but, in real life I think I would feel like a grandmother driving one. Not good for a 18 year old male.

Luckily we saw the yaris which looked sleek and stylish (in my epinion anyway. The particular model we saw wasn't really what we were looking for because it had stuff added that I didn't care for and lacked stuff I actually wanted. However, I liked the make and model and the fuel effiency.

Due to previous issues with the buick I decided to go without power locks and windows and get the old timey standard wheel it up yourself style. I decided instead to have an mp3 jack for my ipod. I had to purchase a small little wire for about 5 dollars to actually connect it... About 5 dollars at radio shack.

Now I can't write a review about the yaris without mentioning its fuel economy.. it is a wonderful car. 34 to 39 miles to the gallon.. In addition to its great fuel effiency (important for me.. because its a long drive to the college I am going to attend)It is very spacy on the inside despite its small outside size.

In honesty I don't know much about mechanics so I can't tell you all the different aspects of how it runs in that manner.. All I can tell you is the speedometer is in the center of the dashboard which some people don't like.. I personally don't mind it.

As to the driving I should point out this car handles extremely well. I can make turns I would have never even began to consider in the buick. Now..Many teenagers may not be happy to get a yaris because its not the "mustang I can go 900 miles an hour and drag race you" car.. However, I was able to keep up with my classmates when I had to follow them on a field trip and we were in our vehicles. They hit 90 weeving in and out of traffic and I was able to keep up. Something I am not nessicerly proud of but, I feel it deserves a mention that this car can keep up although I will never do it again unless nessicery.

This car is wonderful is you are A. a young person without alot of cash. B. Have a small family. (I can comfortably fit myself and 3 passengers we can always squeeze more in the back) C.your tight on cash and are looking to buy a new vehicles.

Hmm I think it might not hurt to point this out. Recently at work my boss mentioned how expensive gas was. I asked how much. She said it was 30 dollars. I remarked "thats a tank and a half of expensive gas for me". Someone else pointed out I have a "cheap car". Then my boss gets on about how she has a "nice car". So I asked her what kind she had. She remarked "ford tarus".. Then said "it better last forever I just had to replace the transmission and now something else is going out"

So I personally feel it deserves to be stated that if your one of the people who feel you need to have the "top of the line" car.. Then the price tag of Under $20,000 might kinda turn you off. However, I think it deserves to be noted that I live in a town full of people who feel they need to have the most expensive car. The irony is these expensive cars tend to break down alot and are expensive to repair.

As to me.. I am 18 and i don't feel I need to drag race. I don't feel I need to spend all my money to "pimp my ride" or have some sort of "super sweet" vehicle. All I need is a good reliable vehicle. And I get all the milage I need. So.. I love my car as a whole. I picked it because i felt for its price it looks great, gets wonderful gas milage and doesn't burn all my money.
