If Isaac Asimov Redesigned The Camry...

by   drive571 , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  May 4, 2005
Pros: High mileage, low emissions, roomy interior, endless high-tech novelty, respectable road manners.
Cons: Computer-controlled driving experience is part R2-D2, part HAL 9000--usually friendly, but sometimes frustrating.
The Bottom Line: The Prius integrates efficiency, practicality, and technology into one exceedingly appealing package. On its own terms, it's even fun to drive.
Review: My Experience After owning a series of Volvos--whose reliability ranged from "poor" to "can we just tape over the check-engine light?"--my girlfriend decided it was time to invest in a brand-new car. And, having become quite the car enthusiast ...

2005 Toyota Prius - Loving My Stealth Pod

by   millinocket ,  Jun 28, 2007
Pros: Fuel efficiency, cute pod shape, comfortable and roomy, excellent braking performance
Cons: I hate the touch panel, rear window design could be better
The Bottom Line: My Stealth Car sits quietly in my garage, awaiting its next chance to ensconce me in its pod and make me look way cooler than I actually am...
Review: Okay, let’s just start by setting a few facts on the table. I am not a car girl. What I mean is that, for all I know, my car could be powered by gerbils spinning in wheels. But…..I do know how to drive, and have been doing so for quite ...

2005 Toyota Prius: Not just a pretty face

by   Penguinlady ,  Feb 10, 2005
Pros: Incredible gas mileage, roomy, comfortable, fun to drive
Cons: Lacks some familiar conveniences
The Bottom Line: My Bottom Line should only be as fuel efficient as my new Prius...
Review: Penguinman and I have been driving a 1993 Miata and a 1997 Chevy Venture van - from the tiny to the huge - for the past 7 years. Neither of them was getting very good gas mileage, and both seemed to be nearing the end of their planned-obsolescence ...

Toyota Prius 2005 Navi Package -- first looks

by   andrevm ,  Jul 10, 2005
Pros: Fuel efficiency, quiet interior, great sound system, HID lights, navi, Toyota reliability.
Cons: Can’t change navigation destination while moving. Will keep updated as time passes.
The Bottom Line: An awesome car for commuting to work and back.
Review: After 77,500 miles on a 2000 Audi A6 Quattro, my family set out to trade our gas-hog A6 wagon (15-17mpg) for a “green” car, the 2005 Toyota Prius. We had been eyeing the car since it first came out, but didn’t need a new car for a long time. ...

No, You Don't Have To Plug It In!

by   alladinjw ,  May 6, 2008
Pros: Spacious, good gas mileage, quiet
Cons: small tank, no locking glove compartment
The Bottom Line: Good car. Great for the environment and helps lower our dependence on oil. It is quiet, roomy, and fun to drive.
Review: Inevitably, the first question I get about my Prius is either: "How do you charge it?" or "You have to plug it in, right?" Unfortunately, most electric only cars are no longer on the road. If you want to learn more about the politics behind that, ...

Love at first drive

by   kandcats ,  Mar 28, 2005
Pros: Unbeatable gas mileage, loaded with features, roomy, attractive, fun to drive
Cons: for some, the wait to own their own
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone of all ages. It is a joy to own and drive and in my humble opinion, an incredible value!
Review: I read somewhere that Prius is Latin for "to go before". A clever name for a very clever car. The Toyota Prius is a Hybrid vehicle. It uses both a gasoline motor and a Ni-MH battery in conjunction with each other to give you optimum gas mileage. ...

You Have to Drive It to Believe It

by   melisaa ,  Jan 22, 2006
Pros: tech features, gas mileage, environmentally-friendly, comfort, roominess, affordable
Cons: bar across rear window obstructs view, MPG not as high as advertised, and better 2006
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a reliable, comfortable, high quality, roomy car with great gas mileage and luxury-style tech features at a family sedan price.
Review: After writing a few car reviews years ago and thinking that I might want a Chevy Malibu after driving a rental (my former roommate had one and it had several mechanical problems so I don't feel quite the same about it anymore), I have finally found the ...

great car to have during high gas prices

by   mikanpoohbear ,  Sep 2, 2005
Pros: Cool features, smooth ride, Quiet, touch screen, keyless entry, storage space, and more!
Cons: Car shakes a bit when the engine stops, windshield wiper switch and the gas meter.
The Bottom Line: If you like driving sports cars, racing or fixing up cars, don't buy it! If you like economy sized, convenient, gas-saving cars, and or helping the environment, BUY IT!
Review: I bought my car about a month ago and it's been running great. I enjoy the smooth ride and how many miles I can drive without filling up. I had a '98 Honda Civic that would need a fill up every 2 weeks because I drive over 400 miles per week. But now ...

Prius is a dream come true

by   kellymac00 ,  Dec 11, 2006
Pros: Great Gas mileage, quiet, smart start, carpool lane in CA
Cons: Dealers increasing the price based on demand
The Bottom Line: Love it!
Review: I bought my Prius brand new a year ago this past November. I took a job that required me to commute 60 miles a day in LA traffic and figured the Prius would be my answer to many stressful days sitting on the 405. In the state of California Prius owners ...

Fantastic vehicle

by   rampagion ,  Jul 30, 2005
Pros: Feels like the perfect vehicle
Cons: Can't convince my wife to buy one--she's going for the Element.
The Bottom Line: Everyone should drive one of these because you'll save money on gas, and help save the planet in the bargain.
Review: I waited 8 months to get my Prius, and finally received in in October 04. I've been driving it now for 9 months. I ordered Tideland Pearl for my Prius' color--really it's kind of a 'light ash' color with the barest hint of green (my wife claims). ...
