Author's Review
We traded in our 99 Plymouth Grand Voyager van (basically a Dodge Caravan with a different logo) for an 05 Kia Sedona due to transmission problems. I was a little skeptical over buying a Kia simply b/c of what I had heard over the years about them. Truth be told, at this point, I am completely impressed with the Sedona.
Ours is a sage green Sedona LX, and this color is really eye-catching. The interior is a tan cloth. As far as any upgrades or options, the only thing we did was opt for the dvd package. The dvd player is not a Kia product, so the dealer had a local audio shop install the package. The stock LX has all the standard creature comforts, such as power windows, locks, keyless, cruise, cd, etc.
One of my favorite things about this van is the ride quality. Very smooth and quiet. The steering is precise and responsive. Does well on gas. As far as the interior goes, it is designed very effectively. The seats are comfortable and there are lots of little storage bins for your stuff. There is even a little ticket holder for the driver, which is cool for putting parking deck tickets, coupons, business cards etc. The stereo plays mp3's no problem. We took the van to the beach about a week after we bought it, and I must admit when I popped the hatch to load up our stuff, it seemed pretty small. The good thing is, you can drop the 3rd row seats in about 4 seconds and that opens up a lot of cargo room. Very smart, Kia. If you have passengers in the 3rd row then you will have to pack lighter, so be warned.
