On 10/28/2004, I picked up a Black 2005 Honda Accord EX-L to replace my 2002 Honda Accord EX-V6. This is the smartest purchase that I have ever made.
The sticker of the Accord EX-L is $25,015. I negotiated the price down to $22,100 before tax and license. This price INCLUDED the 5yr - 100,000mi Honda Care Extended Warranty!
What brought me to the Accord over the BMW 325i, Nissan Altima, and Toytoa Camry is the bang you get for your buck.
Below is what comes on the Accord EX-L as STANDARD features!
Dual Climate Control, 6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer, XM Satellite Radio w/ 3 month free subscription, Leather Seats with Heated Driver and Passenger Seats and Illuminated Radio and Cruise Controls on the Steering Wheel.
Many of the above models have these features available as options with the total price of the vehicle coming out to an average price of $29,000!
Since I was a previous EX-V6 Accord owner with 200 HP, I was concerned about getting a non-V6 model because the EX-L only has 160HP down from the 200 HP that I was use to. Well that worry was eliminated quick. The IVTEC engine gives you 160hp but you would never know it. The acceleration and push this car provides will make you and your passengers think you are driving a V6 model sedan.
The ride itself is unreal. Honda made some incredible improvements with the suspension making the ride on this car very smooth and fun to drive. Cabin noise on the 2k5 Accord has also be greatly reduced so you can now enjoy a conversation with your passengers without hearing the howl of the wind as you drive.
Last but no least, gas mileage. I thought about waiting for the Accord Hybrid but I was assured that I would get at least 24mpg in city driving. The Hybrid gives you 30 mpg but at a cost of almost $20k more! Right now I am getting 25mpg in the city and 34 on the highway.
In closing, the 2005 Honda Accord EX-L is a great deal. Honda now compares side by side with other high-end/luxury cars like BMW and Audi and blows away its direct competition with Toyota and Nissan.
Take a test drive and do a side by side comparison, you will not be disappointed!
