Author's Review
About 2 years ago, i was in need of a new vehicle, and decided to lease a pickup truck due to the fact that i need to use the vehicle offroad and because I had a dirtbike that needed to be transported. For about a month I looked at the main pickup trucks from Dodge, Ford and Nissan, and after a lot of research on the trucks, i picked the Ford F-150.
The interior of this car is amazingly roomy, not only in the front but in the back as well; you could easily fit 5 people in the truck without any discomfort. The seats in the truck were just as impressive, I could tell immediatly that they were high end seats and I must say, they're much better than the seats in the other pickup trucks. The dashboard was ok, nothing out of the ordinary although it did look better than most dashboards I've seen in other cars. Another thing i found was that at the turn of a dial, i could light up all the controls on the doors, steering wheel, dash, etc.
The sound system in this truck is pretty cool, again it isn't "amazing" but the sound quality was great and I could turn up the volume to the max without blowing the speakers. The power windows worked like normal, and i was pleased to find that there was a button in the top-center of the truck to control the back window (which could also light up). In the back seats there are metal clips firmly attached to the crease between the seat, which is used for putting in a car seat (very usefull for someone with childen). To go with these clips comes a lever in the door that makes it imposible to open the door from the inside, to prevent a young child from accidently opening the door while driving. While The center console is very big, actually it's huge by my standards and can easily fit 20+ cd's as well as anything else you need to put away. So in my oppinon the interior of this car is a godsend, I give it a 9.5/10
The exterior of this truck is pretty nice, it makes the truck look casual (not mean looking like the Dodge Ram) and suited me just fine. I have the FX4 model so on mine theres a big FX4 sticker on the back part of the truck bed, it looks nice as its not too flashy. The truck has 18 inch wheels with the standard AT/S tires and trust me, these things work amazingly off-road, even if you've got a heavy load in the back. Im not quite sure on how long my bed is, but i took the shortest one and found it was still very roomy; I had space to put a truck compartment in the back, i should also mention I got the bed extender option which allows you to use the tailgate to extend the bed.My model didn't come with metal steps to help you step into the car, and unless you really have a lot of trouble stepping a foot and a half, you don't need it. I give the exterior a 9/10
The control and general ride of the Truck is very nice, even on a dirt road. It's very quiet and comfortable at high speeds and in sharp turns. Speaking of sharp turns, this truck handles amazingly; on the road it's flawless while on the dirt road you need to be going at least 80km/h before you need to worry about handling. Turning and breaking is super easy, and the gas pedal needs only a slight push to get it going(it's very sensative). I give the control a 9/10
The engine is a beast! I have the 5.4L V8 engine and I am EXTREMELY pleased. So far I've used it to tow boats, cars and trailers full of lumber and it works great. For exmaple, I towed a car up a sandy hill that was at a 45 degree angle and it worked flawlessly (this is a combination of the engine and tires). The truck has 300HP and unfortunatly this means it needs a lot of fuel, it only gets 15 mpg, which will kill anyone on gas. I give the engine a 9/10
The pricing on the truck is pretty hefty, starting at 40 grand, it's enough to make anyone turn away. Even though it's expensive, it's pretty obvious why...overall it's a better truck than the others. Another thing about the price is, well, it's too high for someone who's looking to buy a truck solely for work purposes, I would not suggest this vehicle to someone who's just going to use it to move dirt/supplies back and forth because there are less expensive pickups out there to do that ( the GM sierra for example). I give the pricing an 8/10.
Overall this truck is great, it delivers in places that other truck don't. By offering a truck that is suited for working, pleasure and off-roading; they make there trucks better than the rest.
