Pros: Didn't want to put this book down, very varied plot
Cons: Wasn't expecting so much female empowering & romance
The Bottom Line: I enjoyed this book for it's varying elements and fast pace. I hope that there will be more books to come in this series!

Review: In February 2003, I caught the beginning of the made-for-tv movie based on James Patterson s book, 1st to Die. Although I didn t make it very far into the movie, the plot caught my interest, and I checked for the book at my library. I...

Review: I am a huge James Patterson fan, and with this book, First to Die, he did not disappoint me!
The book begins with the killing (or rather, the discovery of the killing) of a bride and groom in their hotel room. It appears as though the groom is... |

Pros: He does appear to have actually visited San Francisco before writing this
Cons: Everything else; weak characters, implausible story line, and bad investigative techniques
The Bottom Line: This would be fair 'beach reading' by an unknown author but Patterson will likely make millions from this new cast of substandard characters.

Review: Any book cover with a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge or any other San Francisco landmark immediately catches my eye. That is how I first saw the latest release of James Patterson. I picked it up and read the inside cover which talked about a team...

Pros: New crew for a great new mystery.
Cons: Don't like the women's circle style.
The Bottom Line: Another triumph for JP and his excellence in murder mystery writing. Perhaps another screenplay in the works.

Review: OK OK I am an avid James Patterson(JP) fan so let me say that so that you know where I am coming from. For my time and money, JP is the best murder mystery writer today bar none. I have read not all, but many of his prior novels. Most of the Alex...

Cons: None - this book is perfectly written

Pros: James Patterson keeps the story moving in quick bites.
Cons: Convoluted at times, unbelievable elements and cliched ending.
The Bottom Line: This book has some of James Patterson's signature talents of timing and twists. Unfortunately, it's got details which are difficult to believe and ends in a cliche.

Review: Wedding plans can be exciting. Some brides dream for
years of choosing a dress. They visualize how they will look on their special day. If you're a mystery writer, it's a perfect setup. Take a fitting for the perfect... |

Pros: Well-developed characters, intriguing mystery.
Cons: A few "girlie" moments I didn't care for.
The Bottom Line: The first book in a series is sometimes not the best. In this case, I think Patterson did pretty well.
