1st to Die - A roller coaster ride!!!!
Date of Review: Jun 24, 2003
The Bottom Line: Just when I thought I had solved everything, Patterson would add more to the ingredients - this books kept me going up and down - just like a roller coaster.
A women's murder club consisting of a homicide detective, reporter, assistant district attorney and medical examiner - formed to track down a killer who is killing brides and grooms shortly after their wedding. Four women, living in a mans world trying to make it to the top. Lindsay Boxer, the main character and homicide detective, is determined to solve this case and get a promotion. Unfortunately, she is diagnosed with Negli's - a blood disorder which can be fatal - the same day the case begins. Determined to fight her illness and find a killer, she keeps this book moving along great. Lindsay's best friend, Claire, the medical examiner with the whole package - a loving husband, kids and brains. Jill, the assistant district attorney, the woman working hard in a man's world thrives to be her best in everything. Cindy, the reporter who broke her first big story and is trying hard to stay on top. They are the murder club and of the four we can relate to at least one of them and their battles. Throw in some romance as she tries not to fall in love with her new partner and the book is complete. But that, by far, is not what makes this book so great - just when you think you have everything figured out there are new twists, more ingredients to the plot. If your into murder mysteries and crime drama this book is definitely for you.
Patterson does a terrific job with this book. I stayed on the edge of my seat. It was easy to read and hard to put down.
