Author's Review
I was perousing through the digital channel guide earlier this afternoon when I saw "1941" in the list. Never hearing of it I switched to it, thinking it was a history film. I was WAY off, but I turned it on and my life has been changed forever (ok, maybe that's going a bit far, but it was a really funny movie!). But seriously, this film is definitely under rated. I did a quick check on the Internet Movie Database and I was surprised to see that it only received a 5.5/10! Maybe this has to do to the time it was released, I don't know. I would have to say that this movie ranks up there with the funniest of all time!
Maybe it was the witty dialog, or maybe it is my weird sense of humor, but I found myself cracking up during every scene!
This is Steven Spielberg's first "major" film. I was also very surprised to see in the credits Robert Zemeckis, Dan Akyroyd, Ned Beattie, John Belushi, Robert Stack, John Candy and more. What star power! The humor is very subtle, almost similar to Airplane!.
If you're a fan of movies that have a lot of silly humor, watch this. If you like the Monty Python series, or the Airplane! movies (ok, just the first one) I think you would like it. Rent it today!
