Pros: Pure insane fun.
Cons: May give you a headache.
Review: One of the most satisfying things about reviewing movies is that you get to defend the ones you love. Steven Spielberg's 1941 is a film that has been ridiculed, vilified and just plain hated since it was released in 1979. Yes, it's way overdone and quite...

Pros: Great Cast, Script, And Filming
Cons: Nah!
Review: We all have a list of movies in our head that we thought should have been received better than they were. "1941" is close to the top of my list. I have never understood why Steven Spielberg didn't score big with it, but I have watched it many...

Pros: Silly humor
Cons: Silly humor
Review: I was perousing through the digital channel guide earlier this afternoon when I saw "1941" in the list. Never hearing of it I switched to it, thinking it was a history film. I was WAY off, but I turned it on and my life has been changed forever...

Pros: outrageously funny
Cons: some partial nudity/sexual inuendo
Review: Did you ever have one of those days when you just want to plug in a movie that makes you laugh, without being concerned with deep plot twists and involved characters? Then this is the one! Pearl Harbor is fresh in everyone's mind, and they are geared...

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad War Comedy.

Pros: The documentary is great, and so is the music...
Cons: ... the movie isn't, however.
The Bottom Line: Great extras, bad movie, cheap price. Your call.
Review: Steven Spielberg has directed many box-office successes over the years, most of them certifiable modern classics. But even the best directors have their misfires, and 1941 would be at the top of his admittedly short list. Critically savaged and ignored ...

Pros: John Williams' music; a few scenes are funny
Cons: Waste of a good comedic cast; too busy and frantic for its own good.
The Bottom Line: Over the years, many filmmakers have made great comedies set during World War II. Unfortunately, 1941 is not one of them.
Review: If we look at every current successful Hollywood director's filmography, we are bound to find several failed projects or "could have been contender" films that, for some reason or another, failed both critically and popularly at the box ...

Pros: All-star cast, epic scale, lavish sets, costumes, destruction
Cons: Heavy-handed humor, thin characters, bad taste
Review: This legendary box-office dud from superstar director Steven
Spielberg is like an "Airplane!" or "Naked Gun" parody made with all the spectacle and epic scope that Universal Pictures could buy. But Spielberg doesn't... |

Pros: the main premise
Cons: acting, comedic elements, money spent, all the dialogue
The Bottom Line: 1941 was a film with a good idea at its center, that was made terribly. Bad acting coupled with bad writing was a killer here.
Review: Some movies have a hard time trying to stick with a specific theme, or genre when they are planned for an audience. In the case of 1941, we have a film that at the time, may have seemed fitting, but since then, has become a drab mix of failed comedy and ...

Pros: I'm stretching here, so I'll say the cast
Cons: Not funny, Acting is terrible, Just about everything
The Bottom Line: Despite generally talented cast members, "1941" is terribly unfunny and it demeans the career of Steven Spielberg to consider he ever directed it.
Review: Sometimes, there comes a movie that is so terrible that all one wishes to do is erase it from their memory. "Wrong Turn," which is my all-time most hated movie is almost completely forgotten by me. I know I don't like "Wrong Turn," but I don't even ...
