18 means life. And that it is!
Pros:
Combines Moby's cherished ambient poetry and his successful street beats
Cons:
Might force you to dance, think, jump, cry, and miss everyone you love.
The Bottom Line:
Combines ambient poetry with swift beats, leaving listeners not only grooving, but actually swimming in world created by powerful vocals and chords that dig deep inside the soul.

Author's Review
18 is a mystical number. Not only does it represent the number of tracks on this equally mystical album, it represents conspiracy jargon about Roswell aliens. More importantly, its also the numerical value of the word LIFE in Hebrew. If 18 means life, this album has PLENTY of it.
Not life in the sense of simple locomotion and movement. But life in its most complex understanding. Love, Pleasure, Pain, Memories, Hopes and even a Jam for the Ladies with MC Lyte.
Moby has artistically capitalized on the niche created with his previous hit, PLAY. All while incorporating the most beautiful style of the less successful recording, ANIMAL RIGHTS. Kids buy records, and kids dont generally dig the ambient power of some of his previous works.
With 18, Moby has combined this ambient poetry with the swift beats of PLAY, leaving listeners not only grooving, but actually swimming in world created by powerful vocals and chords that dig deep inside the soul.
P.S. I would like to also reiterate that Moby is not a DJ in the sense of simply sampling music and composing it. Pretty much all the music you hear on a Moby album is him playing the Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drums, Bass, Flute, and on and on. Hes closer to Bowie/Chopin as singer/songwriter/composer/musician than he is a DJ.
