Johnny Cash Rules

Whadya mean you have to read a review of this first to see if it's any good? It's Johnny Cash! What are you thinking? The title says it right on it: 16 Biggest Hits. I'd call that pretty transparent. About all one needs to do in practical terms is flip it over and see what tracks are on it, just to make sure that you don't already have another Johnny Cash album with 2/3 the same songs. (Why do they do that?) For instance, I was buying a Johnny Cash album for my dad on his birthday or Christmas or something and I'm at Cactus Records & Tapes deciding which one to get and about all I can do to decide between various greatest hits compilations is to come up with some complicated rating system like: Sunday Morning Coming Down gets 9 points, A Boy Named Sue gets 8 1/2 points, Ring of Fire gets 11 points, and add them all up, but pretty soon I realize I don't know what my scale is, I'm having to inflate this and then that score...I mean, no matter how many points you give Folsom Prison Blues, you keep wanting to up it a notch. So twenty minutes later I'm still standing in the same spot and now Ring of Fire is worth 63 points and Sunday Morning Coming Down is worth 65 and I've got the adding machine tape going and I'm dividing by the price of the CD, though I'm wondering if I shouldn't weight it by some constant. Anyway, I didn't go with this album. I don't remember why. I think it wasn't in the store yet. But my wife ordered it for me later off Amazon. It kind of scared me when she told me because I knew she must have bought an old Smiths album or something for herself and bought this for me so I wouldn't complain when the Smiths album arrived. Anyway, it worked.
