Fire un Miene Comand... Los!
Date of Review: Jul 12, 2006
The Bottom Line: I would buy this if you like U-boats or naval warfare and intense action. I sweat bullets playing this game.
This game is fantastic! As a child I played silent hunter one and thought that was great, but when shopping at Comp USA, my eye caught hold of this amazing game and I bought it right away. I installed it as soon as I got home and I can tell you I have never been happier with a computer game in my life!
The game is a virtual simulator of what it is like to be in command of a German U-boat in WWII. You have to make sure every aspect of your submersable is in working order, from the crew and their abilities and shifting their order, making sure they get enough sleep, buying upgrades for the U-boat with stamina points which are rewarded for you actions, and then there is the hard part, you have to survive and attack convoys, warships and enemy planes. Each newer U-boat is better than the last, but you have to earn them. You can choose the difficulty by selecting what year you start your campaign, the later in the war, the harder. Every German U-boat ever made in WWII is available to you. The game gives you complete control over the ship as I said, and it can be hard. This is actually a very hard game.
You can also play single missions, like trying to get from the Atlantic to the Mediterranian sea bypassing through Gibralter, a narrow opening into the sea controlled by the Allies, or you can sink an aircraft carrier. The game has many single missions. You can play on the internet but I never see anyone else there.
I like how hard it is, I like the realism of the game, I like the control I have over the game and I like the campaigns. I really like how everything looks so real. This is a very realistic game with a very keen 3D drive. What I don't like is how when you leave the base (starting point of each new mission), you can crash easily into the walls or shore around you and sink in 12 meters of water. Another thing I don't like is how when you are repairing your ship after attack, the repair team won't go on to a new compartment after they've fixed one. But that is it for cons.
