Product Review

Awesome remake

by   shalineko ,   Jan 26, 2008

Pros:  Comes with extras, compatible with gameboy advance, SP, and DS/DS Lite

Cons:  Easy, simple storyline/gameplay

The Bottom Line:  Go out and buy this game, especially if you are like me and are itching for an old school pokemon game.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

For those of us who were around during the early days of pokemon for the gameboy console--Pokemon red and blue, this game will probably hold a lot of appeal.

I am not as huge of a pokemon fanatic as I was in fourth grade, and thus have not kept up to date with all of the new pokemon that have been introduced as the years went on. When I decided to buy a pokemon game for my DS, I was surprised to find one that focused primarily on the original 150 pokemon. FINALLY I could play the game without being confused as to who the characters were AND without feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of pokemon (and no offense to diamond and pearl lovers, but some of the newer pokemon are cheesy/ridiculous looking. I mean, honestly, NOSEPASS?!)

Anyway, I played this game nonstop until I got to the Elite Four, and was excited to find that my team almost exactly matched the one that I had back in the days of old-school pokemon.

Despite the fact that this game has been around for a while, I still think that its simplicity and likeness to the old pokemon games makes it worth a buy. I would recommend it mainly to older pokemon fans, or those who only want to experience the nostalgia of looking for the original 150.

The only drawback I could find was that the game seemed to be quite a bit easier than the original games; I was able to complete it within only a few days. But then again, maybe I've just improved since elementary school.
