Myst IV: Revelation

I have always been a fan of the Myst series but I never played a Myst game that was so graphically intense till this one! It’s a large game when you use the full install option (8 gigs).

DIFICULTY: I thought this game was really hard at times! I would come across puzzles where I had to consult the online strategy guide and even then I was not able to solve them without a save file. So, as far as difficulty is concerned, I believe Ubisoft made this game too difficult!

GRAPHICS: This game without a doubt has the best looking graphics I have ever seen in the Myst series! Everything in the game was so crisp and clear, you could tell it was fully utilizing direct x 9. But as a cost for graphics you lose frame rate. I have a Intel 2GZ with 1gig of RAM and a 128mb FX 5900XT video card. With all options on and settings at high, it was taxing my system. If you plan to buy this game I would make sure you have at least a 2.4GZ CPU with 1gig RAM and a 6600 GT video card!

GAMEPLAY: Movement in this game is that of the same from Myst III Exile. However, I thought the mouse curser was a little sluggish when moving it over objects to be interacted with. In this game however, there is allot more that you can interact with. You will be physically moving your hand on the mouse more in this game as that is the only way to move levers and such. You also have the option to tap your hand against different objects to hear the sound they make.

SOUND & MUSIC: I thought the sounds in this game were well done, I never once felt like they ported the sounds over from the original Myst. Sometimes you have to listen to certain sounds and remember them, as you will need to use them somewhere else in the game. The music in this game is also great in that it plays at the right times and places! The music really pulls you into the game with its vast beauty. Music from Peter Gabriel can also be heard in the game!

SUMMERY: I thought the game was a little too difficult to play at times and had to consult the online strategy guide! I thought this game looked great with its vast environments! This game really gets you involved with its game play/interactivity. I thought the sounds and music were great, especially when played at certain times! This game requires lots of resources; I would make sure you have at least a 2.4GZ CPU with 1gig RAM and a 6600 GT video card! I give this game a 4 out of 5
