Author's Review
I was first exposed to Animal Crossing when it came out on the Gamecube. I turned it on and immediately I was drawn into this wacky world of Animals, the first being Tom Nook who supposedly helps you find a place to live and work. Nook is a business man who locks you into a mortgage and gathers bells from you as you progress through the game. As your assets and home get bigger...so does Tom Nook's store. Apparently, we help one another. Meanwhile, there are a whole bunch of wacky friends to meet, errands to run, fish to catch, bugs to hunt, and festivals to celebrate!
The only problem I found with the Gamecube version was that it was lonely. It was very difficult to get other people to play. That's the beauty of the DS. The game becomes portable so you can take it literally anywhere! Besides that, you can play online and visit other people's towns as well as have them visit your own! Rare items can be traded this way and lots of money can be made! Once again I became addicted!
Currently, my character is dressed as a pirate, sailing a custom made flag in the town center, has a huge mansion (that is almost paid off)with different rooms of varying themes, and a ton of friends to visit every evening. My museum is stocked with dinosaur bones that I have dug up in town, fishes that I caught in the oceans and lakes, and bugs that I snuck up on with my trusty net. Occasionally, I pick up a rare painting or two and donate it to the museum or sell it for a nice profit.
On my birthday we had a nice bash and presents galore filled my mailbox. Sometimes I get a neat message in a bottle and throw one back to a lucky unknown person.
This game is jam packed with things to do. Also, it runs in real time so the seasons change as the months go by. Also, the sun goes down when it gets late. If you play at night it will most likely be dark! Its like living out your own little fantasy world in the palm of your hands. You can kill 10 minutes or 10 hours playing this game. I recommend it to anyone. I've seen people as young as 10 and as old as 40 getting involved with the crazy antics of AC:WW. You should too!
