Massive Storage - noisy fan

The Bottom Line: Revised: Consider a PC with a motherboard having RAID built-in.
Review: Western Digital offers one of the few consumer RAID external drives at 1TB for a reasonable price. After having a computer crash and losing precious video and music data, it almost becomes a necessity to have some sort of redundant storage.

Easy setup, TONS of storage space, RAID...

Fan is noisy, drives run VERY hot.

The Bottom Line: Check out other brands like Maxtor, La Cie or Seagate who have similar drives what are better designed.
Review: I had to get a monster drive for work and initially my boss suggested the Maxtor III 1 TB drive but I couldn't find anywhere that had it in stock and we needed it soon.

Best Buy had this Western Digital for $500 and that seemed a good...

Two for two a disaster of a drive

The Bottom Line: With its current design, I cannot recommend this unit. Consider other RAID solutions.
Review: When WD released the 1TB My Book external drives, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase one for home and an additional one at work. I wanted an external RAID array to protect my data as I work with extensive video and audio files. I applauded WD...
