Product Description

 
This all-new Jetta will be based on the same platform as the Golf that debuted in Europe last fall. The revamped Jetta will get a longer wheelbase and a wider track, but the styling isn't likely to differ much from the current version. The engine lineup won't change much either, but the 3.2-liter V6 is a possible addition. It's expected to go on sale in the U.S. next spring.

2005 -2006 Jetta- All Gown-Up? Or just Old and Decrepit?

The Bottom Line: The new Jetta isn't a bad car, however until VW improves its base engine, $27,000 is too much moo-la for this vehicle.

The Bottom Line: The appeal of luxury-class interior materials and feature content is dulled by Toyota styling and un-Toyota reliability concerns.
Review: At last January's Detroit auto show a few cars really surprised me. On the positive side, a couple of new cars from Saturn will actually be desirable. I very much look forward to driving them. Then there was the totally redesigned VW Jetta.

The Bottom Line: The latest Jetta has become richer, heavier, and less individualistic. Apparently, Volkswagen thinks its buyers have done the same, and is no longer vying for the youth vote.
