Product Description

 
Van, the black-sheep son of a wealthy industrialist, agrees to search for the remains of his brother, who died while on the surface of Venus two years earlier. Van's crew, naturally enough, have their own hidden agendas in making the mission, but when their ship is attacked by various parasites, they are forced to put aside their differences if they are to have any chance of surviving, let alone completing the mission.

The Bottom Line: A vast improvement over Bova's earlier works. Not a perfect novel, but a decent read on a summer afternoon.
Review: Ben Bova's novel about Earth's sister planet is an improvement over his novel about Mars. The improvement comes from his scaled-down ambitions and more memorable characters. There is also the fact that Venus has a more interesting plot. Let's face...
