Transition Networks' Token Ring Media Converter makes half-duplex operation in a Token Ring environment easier than ever before.??It integrates UTP and fiber optics in any Token Ring configuration. This converter supports the long-awaited Token Ring fiber optic standard, IEEE 802.5j. This media converter operates directly with any other IEEE 802.5j compliant device. It converts UTP to fiber optics in either 4 Mbps or 16 Mbps networks. By allowing the devices attached to the media converter to negotiate speed, there is no need to configure the media converter for a specific speed. It performs loop-back functions as per the IEEE 802.5 specification in either passive or active Token Ring networks.
