Product Description

The adventures of Laura Ingalls and her family continue as Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary, Carrie and Little Grace bravely face the hard winter of 1880-1881 in their little house in the Dakota territory. Blizzards cover the little town in snow, cutting off all supplies. Soon they are almost out of food, so young Almanzo Wilder and a friend make a dangerous trip across the prairie to find some wheat. Finally a joyous Christmas is celebrated in a very unusual way with the most exciting of all the Little House books.

Winters Now Are Nothing Compared to Laura's Long Winter

Date of Review:  Dec 7, 2000
Review: I have been a huge fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books since about third grade. I've read the nine books about Laura's life so many times I can answer all the questions in the "Little House Trivia Book" with hardly a moment's hesitation.

The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder with Illustrations by Garth Williams

The Bottom Line: wonderful story of hardship and survival. Beautifully written.
Review: The Long Winter is the story of a family in Desmet South Dakota during the 1880-1881 winter of blizzard after blizzard that nearly forced an entire town into starvation.

I remember when I was a little girl and I read the Little House books...
