Product Description

Sevendust: Lajon Witherspoon (vocals); John Connolly, Sonny Mayo (guitar); Vince Hornsby (bass guitar); Morgan Rose (drums). Personnel: Travis Daniels (programming). Recording information: Tree Sound Studios. Editors: Travis Daniels; Shawn Grove. On its 2008 full-length studio album, CHAPTER VII: HOPE AND SORROW, the Atlanta, Georgia-based heavy-rock act Sevendust invites a number of high-profile guests to stop by. While super-serious AMERICAN IDOL alum Chris Daughtry lends an extra dose of melancholy to "The Past," members of Alter Bridge also contribute to key tracks on HOPE & SORROW, with guitarist Mark Tremonti (formerly of Creed) appearing on the angst-ridden "Hope" and singer Myles Kennedy featured on the pensive "Sorrow." Of course, Sevendust's own dynamic vocalist, Lajon Witherspoon, can more than hold his own, as best revealed on the powerful nu-metal anthem "Prodigal Son."

A Chapter You Won't Be Able to Put Down

The Bottom Line:

Sevendust maintain heaviness and catchiness but with a more mature sound.

Review: Sevendust have been known for quite a while as a tenacious, hardworking metal band. That description is more apt than ever, as they recently released their seventh album in eleven years, this time only 13 months after the release of its predecessor...

Lessons In Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Date of Review:  Apr 6, 2008
The Bottom Line: There aren't many bands who can deliver solid albums you can listen to start to finish. Sevendust is one of them. Hope and Sorrow is their latest.
Review: It was barely one year ago. Yes, it has only been 13 months since Sevendust released there last album, Alpha. I remember making the statement that if this was their sixth installment, I definitely could not wait until the aptly titled Chapter VII:...
