Product Description

With SPANGLISH, writer/director/producer James L. Brooks (AS GOOD AS IT GETS) unfurls yet another accomplished, tender, romantic comedy. Celebrated chef John Clasky (Adam Sandler) is the patriarch of the Clasky household, but the mood swings of his hypersensitive wife, Deborah (Tea Leoni), are what really runs the show. When the Claskys hire the beautiful Flor (Paz Vega) to be their maid, their already rocky relationship faces some even bigger boulders. Spanish-speaking Flor is a sincere, loving single mother whose daughter, Christina (Shelbie Bruce), receives lavish displays of affection from Deborah. Meanwhile, Deborah neglects her own son and daughter in much the same way that her self-absorbed, alcoholic mother, Evelyn (Cloris Leachman), neglected her. Eventually Deborah crosses a line when she betrays her husband with the real estate broker who is helping her search for a beach house. Faced with this challenge, John and Flor, who share a clear attraction to one another, get the chance to explore the...

SPANGLISH: Se habla English? Si? No?

Date of Review:  Mar 19, 2005
The Bottom Line: Avoid at all costs....no, really..
Review: Do you ever experience those times when you are offered a free screening of a film that you do not even want to really see? Yes, I have just had one of those experiences. After a staff meeeting at the cinema complex that I work at, the managers...

Tea Leoni and Adam Sandler Share a Humorous Sex Scene in Spanglish

Date of Review:  Apr 29, 2005
The Bottom Line: Spanglish isn't for everyone, but I found it entertaining. It is worth seeing, especially for fans of the cast.
Review: The movie Spanglish received a lot of hype before its release to theaters, mostly because it was written and directed by James L. Brooks. The last movie he made, As Good As It Gets, received critical acclaim and won many awards. Personally, I found...

Hay una flor en Spanglish Harlem

Date of Review:  Apr 6, 2005
The Bottom Line: Spanglish is a bizarre blend, a curious concoction, a dubious delivery, an eclectic entree, a fragmented feature, a gratifying getaway, a helluva heartbreaker.
Review: Usually, you can spot a mainstream, feel-good family movie from 30 miles away. Or so I thought, until Mom and I put our eyes upon Spanglish, the weirdest normal movie of that whole crazy year.

This here's the story of a father who's...

Anyone familiar with writer/director James L. Brooks ( Broadcast News , As Good As It Gets ) knows the man has a real feel for interesting women and a disarming way with a one-liner. The main women in Spanglish are Deborah Clasky (Ta Leoni), a moneyed SoCal mom, and non-English speaking Flor Moreno (Paz Vega), the beautiful Latina whom Deborah hires as a housekeeper. The one-liners, some of them amusing, are everywhere. Brooks provides an intriguing set-up for the two women to butt heads.
