Sony offers reliable computer CD/DVD burners

Pros: Sony reliability and craftsmanship throughout
Cons: NO cables, accessories or extra faceplate
The Bottom Line: I always use Sony drives with no problems at all.
Review: I have used and owned a few Sony CD and DVD drives like the DRU-710, DRU-720, DRU-810, and now this DRU-840. I have never uttered a complaint about these drives. The only problem i had was when the drawer was in the open position, and my knee smashed it ...

Excellent Drive, Poor Software

Pros: Excellent build quality, burn quality, speed.
Cons: Poor/old software, price a little high.
Review: Drive is excellent.  Very fast.  Compared w/ my other DVD burners: Plextor PX-850SA, PX-712SA, Sony DRU-830A, DW-G120A, LG GSA-E40L, PBDS DH-16W1S, etc., it is second only to my (expensive) Plextor PX-850SA.Reliable burns on good DVDs ...
