"With the high-flying antics of the Rush series on the N64 a handheld impracticality, San Francisco Rush 2049 for the GBC version turns out to be a solid, if conventional, three-quarters-view racer. When developers bungle Game Boy racers, it's typically because they don't let players see far enough down the road. Fortunately, Handheld Games (MTV Sports: T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX, Triple Play 2001) aced this basic objective. Play control is good, provided you don't choose the extremely squirrelly Point option. Unfortunately the selection menu doesn't disclose that some cars handle much better than others, so you'll have to figure out each one's capabilities yourself. Handheld Games adeptly used the GBC's palette to create five vivid if simply designed cars. The nine fairly short tracks offer unrelieved vistas of steel and cement. There's nothing San Francisco about the settings at all; no Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street or Chinatown. A little sightseeing would have been fun. " Minimize

Fun on the Road!

by   meow-chow2049 ,  Dec 6, 2005
Pros: Fun, on the road! Racing at higher levels can be challenging!
Cons: 2D graphics, very few shortcuts, mediocre sound.
The Bottom Line: Buy this if you already have a color. But I would say, buy a DS.
Review: GamePlay You could say, it's good. Rush 2049 features only 2 modes, Full Race, and Time Attack. In the Full Race mode, you start at level 1, doing as many laps as you selected, [3 default] and start a race! Races are only 2D, ...
