Product Description

 
Both the base 900 and 900S came in 2-door hatchback and 4-door notchback formats, powered by a standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. The 128-horsepower engine came paired with either a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. Next in line were the three Turbo models in 2-door hatchback, 4-door notchback, and 2-door convertible configurations, plus the top-end Turbo SPG 3-door. All featured a turbocharged version of Saabs 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, also available with either a 5-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic gearbox. Features added in 1990 included antilock brakes, a driver-side airbag, and a new 18-gallon fuel tank.

Lovely Little Ride

The Bottom Line: I love it. If it's your cup of tea buy it.
Review: Mine comes in the form of the 1993/1994 (there seems to be some discord on the web about this- mine was apparently purchased new in July 93' and the manual says 1994. So 1994 model year it is but the web usually lists it as 1993) 900s Convertible...

2 door/hatchback not as fast as 4dr Sedan

The Bottom Line: Buy it if you can, make sure to give it a good test drive, and inspection from your own trusted mechanic.
Review: I just got rid of my 1992 Saab 900S 4dr sedan due to many mounting problems. The catalytic converter fell off (very noisy), heated seats didn't work, idled too high, engine heating gage was always saying the engine was too hot, the back seat fell...

A SAAB story

The Bottom Line: Stay away-too expensive. Just ask a Saab certified mechanic, who will encourage you to buy one and then grin like Satan when you break down and bring it in.
Review: I once bought a used '93 Saab 900. Let me tell you about the time and money I spent having it repaired!
First of all, the ignition is located on the floor. Why this is, I can't imagine. Oh, and the car has to be in REVERSE to get the key out...
